Traditional web design workflow is a tedious process of switching between writing styles in a text editor and refreshing a browser to see those styles applied. In this traditional workflow, each update to a style sheet is a six-step process:

1. Save the style sheet.
2. Switch to the web browser application window.
3. Press the refresh button on the web browser.
4. Wait while the page reloads.
5. Confirm that the update is desirable.
6. Switch back to the text editor application window.
